A specially designed Vibrating Machine is used for vibrating the mix in moulds according to strictly controlled programme at a frequency of 12,000 ± 400 cycles per minute. The vibrator is mounted over coiled springs and the vibrations are developed by means of a revolving eccentric shaft. Floor vibration is up-and-down motion caused by forces applied directly to the floor by people or machinery.
Floor vibration generally makes people uneasy and creates fear of structural collapse, although such fear is usually unwarranted because of the small displacements and stresses that are actually produced. The main factor underlying most vibration problems is resonance, which occurs when a load is exerted on a floor at a particular frequency.
