These heat exchangers are used for handling highly corrosive chemicals. They have excellent thermal conductivity & increased safety compared to glass. These materials have highest thermal conductivity – 5 times that of stainless steel, 10 times that of hastelloy, titanium & 15 times that of glass. Graphite heat exchangers are impregnated with phenolic resin so it has restricted chemical resistance from –20Deg.c to 170Deg.C & suitable upto 4 kg / cm² pressure. It is economical than glass for the same heat transfer duty.
