Kateels hydraulic thruster brakes, electro hydraulic thrusters and electro hydraulic thruster brakes come with powerful motors designed to support your application. The stalled thrust of thrusters is high, and the thrusters come pre-filled with 1.5 litres of specially formulated hydraulic oil that performs reliably across a wide temperature range.
Composition and working :
A hydraulic thruster contains an AC electric motor running at speeds up to 3000 rpm. The output shaft of the motor is fitted to the impellor in the thrustor cylinder. The cylinder is made of cast iron and the oil chamber is made out of aluminium. The cylinder is ground finished for the movement of the piston. The impellor housing and the impellor are made out of aluminium casting. The piston rod is made out of alloy steel EN 24 fully machined and ground.

Our electro hydraulic thrustor brakes are suitable for 400 or 440 Volts, 3 Phase A.C. We supply these brakes for a wide range of drum sizes from 100mm to 600 mm diameter. The brake of our electro hydraulic thrustor brakes is applied by the tension of the compressed springs mounted vertically between the thrustor and brake lever. The thrustor rods are connected with the brake by means of an angle lever.
As the piston travels upwards the angle lever turns, pushes the brake rod and compresses the brake spring. Simultaneously, the brake lever on the other side of the wheel is retracted. The brake lever at the thrustor begins to move when the first lever reaches the stop on the brake base member

The brake assembly contains of a brake arm, brake shoe, base frame, actuating lever, brake spring and an electro hydraulic thruster. The brake shoe is mounted on the brake arm and the gap between the brake drum and brake pad is adjusted by spring mechanism. A heavy spring suitable to give required braking force, is mounted in a square tube and a graduation scale is provided outside to note the spring force .The spring force can be adjusted suitably by tightening the nut at the bottom of the spring, All the components are mounted on the base frame.
This brake is normally in closed condition due to the spring force. The hydraulic thruster is actuated by an electric motor. When the power supply is on, the thruster motor is switched on and hydraulic pressure is developed in the hydraulic thruster. The piston is actuated instantaneously and the brake is released. The brake shoe is mounted on the brake arm and the gap between the brake drum and brake pad is adjusted by spring mechanism. A spring, suitable to give the required braking force, is mounted inside the thruster. All the components are mounted on to the base frame.
The brake is a failsafe type. Normally the brake will be in applied condition, due to the spring force on the brake arms. When the power supply is on, an electromagnetic force is developed in the coil, which pulls the plunger against the spring force. When the plunger is pulled, the spring is compressed and the brake arms move away from the drum thus releasing the brake. When the power is switched off the electromagnetic force become nil and the brake is applied by spring force.

Kateel Electro hydraulic thrustor disc brake is a fail safe brake. When power supply is given to the motor, hydraulic pressure builds up inside the thruster and the piston moves up to release the brake. When the power is cut off, hydraulic pressure gets released and the piston moves down, thus moving the brake arm forward allowing the pad to clamp the disc with the spring force and apply the brake.
Composition and working :
The Base is fabricated out of Mild Steel IS 2062 suitably drilled and machined for mounting on the machine. The brake arms and Bell crank levers are suitably oxycut to the shape. The edges are properly ground smooth and are drilled to suit the mounting base as well as the brake pads. The entire pin used in the brake for base mounting, thruster mounting, spring mounting are made out of C 40 material and are machined properly to fit to the levers. Thruster brake is a device to retard the speed of moving machinery and to stop it accurately to the desired position. The braking force is applied to the brake shoes by a pre-stressed compression spring. The shoes press on he rotaing brake drum retarding its speed, and finally stop it The releasing of the brake and compressing of the spring is done by thruster. Other release devices like pneumatic cylinder or manual release arrangements can be offered on request.
