The “ASIAN” Bundesmann Apparatus is used for the water absorption and water penetration of the textile fabrics. It consists of a steel structure with specimens is rotated at a specified speed in this tank about a vertical axis with the help on an Electric motor and worm reduction gearbox placed underneath the tank. Impinging of water jets coming from nozzles on 304 Screws fitted on an aluminium plate produces the shower. The nozzles are fitted on aluminum blocks, which are in turn connected to a closed piping system. Water is supplied to piping system through an electric pump. A control valve and a pressure gauge are also provided to regulate and indicate pressure in the pipeline. A guard is provided to contain splash produced. Water not impinging on the screws is also collected in this tray and drained away. This shower arrangement is mounted on the top of the structure to give the specified drop height. The test is carried out by exposing a set of light fastness standard fabrics 1 to 8 and a set of test specimens to daylight till the desired fading of the colour is obtained. The change in colour of exposed area of the test specimens and the light fastness standard fabrics is then examined and the relative degree of colour fastness of test specimens determined. The equipment consists of a frame made of wood with a glass framed wooden lid hinged over its top. The frame is fitted on a steel stand so that it can be kept in open with the frame located at a convenient working height and tilted at 45º to the horizontal. Determination of water repellency of fabric against external wetting is carried out with the help of the spray tester. The Spray Test method is used for determining the resistance of any fabric, which may or may not have been given a water resistant/repellant finishing surfacing wetting by water. In this test, a specified volume of distilled water is sprayed on a Test specimen, which has been mounted on a ring and placed at an angle of 450, so that the center of the specimen is 150mm below the spray nozzle. The Spray rating is determined by comparing the appearance of the specimen with the standard Rating Chart.
