The seeds are also edible and valuable for human consumption and are commonly sold on local markets in many countries. They are peeled and roasted or boiled. Leaves, flowers and fruits provide good animal fodder, but can also be used for various foods A red dye can be obtained from the leaves and a yellow dye from the flowers. Over-ripe fruits are used to clean and brighten silver, copper and brass, and Indian silver smiths polish their goods with a strong infusion of roots mixed with sea salt.
The fruits are widely used as a remedy against fever, intestinal diseases and diarrhoea. The pulp is used against malaria and on wounds and haemorrhoids.
Powdered seeds are used against dysentery. Pulverised bark ashes are used for colic and digestive disorders. It cures dysentery and boils on human skin. We offer varied range of tamarind products which comprises of natural tamarind, seeds, seed kernel (with outer seed coat removed) and tamarind husk. The products are packed gunny bags of 50 kg capacity. Our seeds are of premium quality which is used in cultivating healthy tamarind plants.
Tamarind seed is very hard and strong and is covered with black brown husk. It is obtained after roasting of Black/ brown seed and removing its outer layer. It is white in color and its size varies in between 12mm to 16 mm. It is fruit of a large tropical tree grown in forests.
Tamarind seed husk constitutes to 35 % of total seed weight and other 65% is white kernel used in manufacturing Tamarind kernel powder.
Tamarind seed ( Tamarind indica) is found mostly in south India and South East Asia. Tree flowers in springs ( Sept to Nov). They ripen from Feb to April. The seed have pulp and outer shell. Seeds are flat and irregular rectangular in shapes. The when cleaned gives 25% Testa and 75% Kernel. The black seed are roasted and decorticated and white kernel are handpicked or separated by color sorter.
