This is a unique machine with a turbine and a generator. It can be rightly called a hybrid of a turbine and synchronous generator. The blades are made of ferromagnetic material having laminated pole tips. Generally the blades are of aero foil section and are thicker than the conventional turbine blades so as to carry the magnetic flux. There are field coils available at the roots of the blade or at the hub of the rooter carrying the blades generating magnetic flux which is carried up with the help of the blades across air gaps to a stator and again back through the air gaps and blades. This machine is comparably simple and comprises of fewer parts than the usual generator combinations having only a single rotor than two.
