Polyurethane is one of the most commonly used elastomer in most of the industries, when high levels of abrasion are present. This abrasion resistance is combined with high load & impact bearing capabilities that make polyurethane the material of choice for a number of machines and other engineering products.
Mechanical seal with conical helical spring unbalanced with 'O' Ring as secondary sealing member. Conical helical spring seal is a direction dependent seal. The view from seal face of rotating parts of the seal, clockwise rotating shaft require right hand springs and shafts anti-clockwise direction require left hand springs. Seal face materials and elastomers can be selected from various material for a wide range of applications. The torque on the face is transmitted by means of conical helical spring. The direction of rotation is viewed from the drive end of shaft. The mounting of the seal on the shaft is easier by means of twisting action in the same direction of spring coiling will tend the spring to open. Helical springs are insensitive to small amount of medium contamination.

The rotary unit is of a simple design and consists of flexible elastomeric bellow. Lapped Mating lace. Single coiled spring driving band and disc. The seal has a large single coiled spring, which is non-clogging and self-cleaning and hence can be used for media of varying contaminations
The primary seal face is of high grade carbon. The bellows are made from neoprene vition. and nitrile rubbers. The stationary face is of ceramic, stellite or tungsten carbide depending on the service condition.

The Bonded Seal (Dowty) comprises of standard combination of a carbon steel (mild steel) annulus cold-rolled, BS1449, with zine protection (D.T.D.903D, gold colour passivation - D.E.F.130) square or rectangular in section, to which an elastomeric ring (Nitrile 90 IRHD) of trapezoidal section is bonded. The Bonded Seal (Dowty) was developed to replace copper type washers in high pressure hydraulic and pneumatic threaded connections. The standard product is supplemented by a range of self-centering Bonded Seals (Dowty) that eliminate the possibility of leakage due to offset during assembly. Custom designs can also be accommodated to suit application requirements.
Method of Operation:
The metal ring resists the pressure bursting forces and limits the deformation of the elastomeric element. This prevents over-compression and extrusion.
