Principle
Spray Drying is a continuous single stage operation, extensively used to convert solutions, suspensions, and slurries into dry powder within a few seconds without any intermediate handling. The drying being very rapid, the product temperature does not go up markedly. Thus spray drying is eminently suitable for drying heat sensitive materials.
Atomization
Atomization can be carried out with a rotary atomizer, a pressure nozzle or a two fluid nozzle.- Advanced Drying Systems
A perpetual feed of wet particulate material is dried in direct heat rotary dryers in the presence of hot air, while the particulate material transports along the interior of a rotary cylinder. The rotating shell acts as the conveying stirrer and device. Our rotary vacuum dryers are suitable for co-current (parallel) & counter-current operation. In the co-current operation, the wet materials are exposed to the hottest air. This is done to successfully make them heat sensitive or to dry-up the sticky materials. In the counter-current operations, to remove the moisture from the sticky materials, these materials are exposed in the hottest air.

Vaccum is used in conjunction with drying or other chemical operations when low solid temperatures must be maintained because heat will cause damage to the product or change its nature, when air combines with the product as it is heated, causing oxidaton or an explosive condition, and when solvent recovery is required and materials must be dried to extremly low moisture levels.
In vacuum processing and drying, the objective is to create a large temperature driving force between the jacket and the product.
To accomplish this purpose at a fairly low jacket temperature, it is necessary to reduce the internal process pressure so that the liquid being removed will boil at a lower vapour pressure. It is not always economical, however to reduce the internal pressure to extremly low levels because of the large vapour volumes already created.

Double cone dryer itself is rotating unlike nauta mixer or dryer.
