Ball mill consists of cylindrical shell rotating on a horizontal axes, mounted on a sturdy mild steel structure. Both the end plates of the ball mill are strongly designed to with stand the rotational load of the mill with grinding media and the material to be processed. Openings are provided through main hole, from where the material to be processed is loaded and discharged. The ball mill/rolling mill is driven by a motor coupled to the reduction gear box with chain, sprocket and belt. Satjyot ball mills are fabricated from mild steel, having SS linning, rubber lining or ceramic lining etc as required.
In a Ball mill, most of the size reduction is done by impact, as the balls drop from near the top of the shell.
