The feed material is crushed with impact hammer crushers by means of rotating beaters with reversible head by impact against the grinding walls. Due to reversible rotor with crushing ledges arranged on both sides, the wearing faces of the hammer heads can be completely used without reversing the hammers.

Steel Body
Stainless steel made box type frames of these roller crushers are made of M.S. plates after reinforcing them by steel ribs. The base feet are also made from M.S. square and riveted to main frames. Their top and side plates are bolted to main frames.
Rollers
Each crusher has two rollers, out of which one is stationary & other is adjustable or movable. The rollers are made from either iron, high carbon steel or manganese steel depending upon the requirements.

This comprises of two hardened alloy steel rollers with 100 mm. faces and 250 mm diameters. The rollers are fitted to a steel shaft and are mounted on heavy duty gunmetal bearings. The outside bearings are provided with heavy duty compression springs, which help in increasing the space between the rolls, when a piece of material cannot be crushed. Square threaded holts are provided to adjust the gap between the rolls. The drive is by a heavy duty motor, through ‘V’ belts to a set of gears and further to the rollers. HOW VSI WORKS ?
VSI is nothing but a Centrifugal "STONE-PUMP". Stones are fed into centre of the rotor (like water in the centrifugal pump) & stones are thrown outwards towards the periphery by centrifugal force.
Feed material is fed through a vertical tube in the centre of the horizontal rotor rotating at high speed (60 M/Sec to 70 M/Sec) around a vertical axis.
Feed material due to centrifugal force starts picking up speed and it starts getting distributed over the distribution cone & as the material travels over the rotor-vanes, towards the periphery attains the same speed as speed of rotor's periphery.
At the instant of alighting from the rotor, material attains a velocity which is the resultant of peripheral velocity and radial velocity (due to centrifugal force) and direction of the resultant velocity is almost 45 degrees to radial direction.
