Any plastic or non-conductive material has lons on the surface & as such cannot have polarity. Foil charger produces single polarity charge in the electrode. The high voltage on the electrode produces Ions to charge the surface of the film. It is used for charging BOPP / Polystyrene/ PP foil material to enable them to stick to mould.
PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
The surrounding atmosphere is ionised by applying high voltage on a sharp point in the electrode. The air breaks into positive ions. The positive ions generated, chargers the foil placed on an aluminum grounded plate. This charged foil is attracted to the mould which is at ground level.
