Acetylene has become increasingly prominent as a raw material for a whole series of organic compounds, among them Acetaldehyde, Acetic gas, and Acetic Anhydride. The remaining 20% of the acetylene production is principally used for oxy-acetylene cutting, heat treating and welding.
The acetylene plant is fully automatic and all the operations are performed automatically by pneumatically controlled valves along with highly accurate sensors and temperature controller imported from USA.
Acetylene is generated as a result of the chemical reaction between the calcium carbide and water. The by-product calcium hydroxide is discharged automatically from the generator. This is a circular published in the interest of all our customers worldwide tocaution them that for production of medical/hospital oxygen from the oxygen plant, it is very necessary that the main equipment i.e. the air separation plant,where the actual separation/distillation of oxygen and nitrogen takes place fromair consisting of many trays should be made of cryogenic grade stainless steel column with temperature as low as -190 degree C below zero. This is extreme cold temperature which is known as cryogenic temperature and ordinary materials like copper, brass and ordinary steel the properties changed and there is a reaction between copper and oxygen and other impurities. These impurities are collect along with oxygen and carried to the cylinder. Therefore the following caution has been issued.

These generators absorb nitrogen with the help of two absorption vessels filled with zeolite molecular sieves responsible for nitrogen absorption.
Oxygen Gas Generation Process
Air is taken from an air compressor and oxygen is separated form other gases, including nitrogen with the help of zeolite molecular sieves. The process involves two towers filled with zeolite molecular sieves which adsorb nitrogen and subsequently discharge waste. The oxygen generated is 85-94% pure. When nitrogen saturates from one tower, this process changes over to the other tower, thus helping in the process of continuous oxygen generation.

Principle Of Operations:- Oxygen gas generators are based on the PSA technology. A special grade of synthetic Zeolite, known as molecular sieves is used to separate oxygen from atmospheric air. Oxygen generator consists of two absorption vessels, filled with molecular sieves are alternately charged with compressed air up to 5 bar pressure. Nitrogen is adsorbed and enriched oxygen flows to the surge tank. After the adsorption cycle, one bed is depressurized to atmospheric pressure, thereby evacuating nitrogen and sieve bed gets regenerated completely by counter current oxygen flow from the other bed. PSA Oxygen Gas Generators
Our oxygen gas generators based on P.S.A Technology and that is called “PRESSURE SWING ADSORPTION’’. The main ingredient of Oxygen Plant is ZMS (ZEOLITE MOLECULER SIEVE) and ZMS is having indefinite pores on the surface, which adsorb the molecules of Nitrogen, Moisture and Unwanted gases from compressed air. Oxygen gas, which is not adsorbed into the surface of ZMS comes out from adsorbed tower and collects in the surge vessel.
It consists of two-adsorber tower, which is filled with Molecular Sieves. The adsorber towers are interconnected with Change over Control valves, controlled by sequence timer with a standard time cycle. After every certain time cycle adsorbed tower, automatically swings and Oxygen gas is produced continuously. The maximum Oxygen purity level is 93-95%
