Nickel Silver is copper alloy with additions of zinc and nickel. Their special blend of mechanical properties, physical properties and performance characteristics depend on the relative proportions of the three elements. Their attractive colour varies from pale gold to silvery white. They are termed nickel silver because they contain nickel and are, by and large, silvery in appearance. But the term is somewhat misleading since they are neither nickel-based nor do they contain silver! They are best considered as brasses to which nickel is added, primarily to improve tarnish resistance, oxidation resistance and general mechanical performance characteristics.

Copper arsenate is prepared by mixing a solution of soluble arsenate and a copper sulfate solution, either or both solutions, which contain sludge-forming impurities. It helps in forming a copper and arsenic-containing solution without precipitating the copper arsenate. The pH during the process is controlled at a value in the range of 1.7 to 2.2 to precipitate impurities.
Precipitated impurities are removed & the copper and arsenic-containing solution is neutralized with a alkaline substance, preferably dilute sodium hydroxide solution, to pH 3.2 to 4.2 that helps in precipitating copper arsenate.

Aluminium copper bi–metal (ALCU) consists of copper (sheet metal) cladded on pure Aluminium (base metal), both metals being diffused together to form an inseparable whole by roll bonding process.
Bi – Metal, is therefore not an alloy and copper layers are not Electro plating / galvanic coatings but are rather mechanically welded on Aluminium with Copper sheets.
Aluminium Terminals are directly connected to Copper Terminals to carry current at a high voltage, a bimetallic galvanic corrosion occurs, resulting in a high resistance at the joint. The heated joints are oxidized and losses contact resulting in sparks, voltage dropout power losses and failure, damage to machinery.
When bimetal is placed between Aluminium Terminal and Copper Terminal at the joint (with Copper facing Copper and Aluminium facing Aluminium), bimetallic galvanic corrosion is averted due to absence of air in bimetal.
