Therefore, belt training idlers are frequently used to automatically maintains belt alignment in one way or reversible direction belt conveyor. Constructed troughing idler and vertical guide roller mounted on a steel frame that swivels about its central vertical axis, when a belt travels off the centre, the belt edge touches the vertical guide roller and swivels the idler in the direction of travel, to realign the belt.

Idlers are available in CEMA B, CEMA C and CEMA D series. The "B" series are available 4" and 5" diameter rolls with 17 mm ball bearings. CEMA C series idlers are available in 4", 5" and 6" diameter rolls with either 3/4" ball bearings or 3/4" tapered roller bearings. CEMA D series idlers are available in 5" and 6" diameter rolls with 3/4" tapered roller or 1" ball bearings. CEMA E series idlers are available in 6" and 7" diameter rolls with 1 11/16" ball bearings.
