The GS900A is a granular activated carbon. The quality of the water from the public water supply strongly varies from one geographical area to another. In one area the quality may be excellent, in another poor. Small scale filters with GS900S- 8x20 activated carbon are used in households (i.e. under the sink or in pitcher filters on the table) or at the entrance of service buildings. Compounds causing taste & odor, chlorine, and organic micro pollutants are removed. The activated carbon may be impregnated with small quantities of metallic silver as an anti-microbial agent; this is to reduce microbial contamination. Filters should be operated according to the advice of the POU/POE system supplier.
