Oxygen are removed through separate paths in Heat Exchangers, for cooling the incoming air. Oxygen is compressed to a prescribed settled pressure by a liquid pump and is directly filled into cylinders. Nitrogen is however available at a pressure of approximately O.5kg/cm2 and the same can be compressed into cylinders with help of an independent high- pressure compressor.
Normally the Nitrogen available is of 98.5% purity only and is let out into the atmosphere as waste product. However, when Nitrogen is to be filled, into the cylinders for commercial use, the plant is controlled by a change in the valve setting to make the mixed Air chamber operative to achieve the required Nitrogen purity. (Facility of filling Nitrogen gas (PPM Grade) and withdrawal of liquid Nitrogen is also possible.)

Ammonium Nitrate is decomposed in the process to give a mixture of Nitrous Oxide & super heated steam. 1. Compression
Air is compressed at a very pressure of 5-7 bar (kg/cm2). Air can be compressed at such low pressure by trouble free rotary compressor (Screw / Centrifugal Type advanced technology is employed in lieu of old bulky piston compressor)

Oxygen Plant
The PSA process is inherently a batch process, as the adsorbent bed requires periodic desorption. Consequently, PSA systems usually contain two adsorbent vessels to provide operational continuity. At any time, one of the vessels will be making product by adsorbing undesired components of air; while the other vessel is undergoing regeneration by de-pressurization to atmospheric pressure. When the adsorbing vessel approaches saturation, a set of valves quickly switches the services. A surge vessel (buffer vessel) downstream of the adsorbers ensures that delivery of product is continuous. While the two-bed system is most common, mono-bed and three-bed configurations are sometimes used for greater capital savings or greater production continuity, respectively.
Oxygen PSA units typically use alumina to remove much of the water vapor from the air feed, together with zeolite molecular sieve to adsorb nitrogen, carbon dioxide, residual water vapor and other gases. Typical oxygen -
