  Acetylene is generated as a result of the chemical reaction between the calcium carbide and water. The by-product calcium hydroxide is discharged automatically from the generator. Acetylene gas burns along with oxygen as a cutting & welding torch and it provides the highest temperature of any known oxygen gas mixture.
  
  The high pressure dryer consists of three columns. The first column is filled with packing to avoid any void and for proper mixing and the second and third are filled with anhydrous calcium chloride.

In this dryer Wet Air from the low pressure Root Blower having temperature of 100oC entering to a After Cooler (water cooled shell and Tube Type) and drops the air temperature to 40oc. Further this cooled air passes through a Refrigeration system and reduce the temperature to 10oC with 3oc pressures Dew Point. This moisture free air is equivalent to (-) 9oC ADP.
  
  Above moisture free air further enter through a four way valve to the top of the Adsorber Tower which is packed with Molecular Sieve and Activated Alumina. • Gas Drying System

  This is similar to air drying plant except the process may not be purely physical separation and may require close monitoring. The regeneration process is most important and may be done using dry gas itself. Carbon dioxide requires to be dried to a dew point of –700C to –800C else even a small amount of moisture will choke the pipe line. Hence a molecular sieve bed is recommended. For LPG / natural gas dew point requirements are upto –1000C and molecular sieve beds are used.
