Some components of today’s highly technical, complex engines are very sensitive to these deposits. Left unchecked, they can build to a level that impairs performance. Additives are required to control deposit formation. Gasoline additives increase gasoline's octane rating or act as corrosion inhibitors or lubricators, thus allowing the use of higher compression ratios for greater efficiency and power.
