Theory Of Operation:
In HOC type dryer, hot air at 120 degree celsius to 140 degree celsius from Compressor discharge is directly used for the desiccant regeneration. Running cost of this dryer is virtually NIL. It has two drying towers filled with the Activated alumina or molecular sieve desiccant and they alternate in process every 4-hour automatically.
Compressed air directly from air compressor discharge is taken to air dryer inlet through pipelines at 130 degree celsius (Min) temperature. This hot air is passed one drying vessel where saturated desiccant is regenerated by this high temperature air. After picking up moisture from bed, this air is cooled in an intermediate cooler. Here moisture is condensed and removed by an auto drain trap. At 40 degree celsius temperature this air passes through second drying vessel where moisture gets adsorbed and dry air comes out. Spray dryers are pneumatic driers having very low residence time within the equipment, thus flashing off the moisture from the feed. PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION:
The feed stock is introduced into a single
or twin steam heated double drums in a uniform film by use of variety of feeding devices and arrangements depending upon the material to be dried. The moisture is dried off in less than one revolution and the dried solid is removed usually in the form of a thin sheet/powder by doctor blade.

Operating Principle
The wet feed which has free flowing granular form is made to work over the rotating bundle of heated tubes. Due to radiation and conduction effects,the moisture is evaporated and the product becomes progressively dry as it travels across the dryer and reaches final moisture level at the dischargepoint. Due to effective turbulence the solids are dried uniformly.

Equipment Description :
Both equipment are identical. Operation wise flaker convert molten liquid to flakes by cooling. Drier evaporates the wet cake and converts to dried granules or powder.
The Rotary Drum Flaker consists of a cylindrical drum, having provision for cooling drum surface. One end of the drum shaft is connected to a gear box which is driven by a motor. The heating cooling media will be circulated in drum during operations, the drum rotates at a slow speed. A thin layer of the product to be dried / cooled, adheres to the outside of the rotating, drum and internally cooled drum. The product gets solidified and is after an almost complete rotation, scrapped off drum surface and at the same instant granulated in the form of flakes, falls on screw conveyor.
