The basic function of wet scrubber is to provide contact between scrubbing liquid and the gas stream. This contact can be achieved by impaction. Generally interception and impaction are important for dust collection. But for Gas scrubbing Diffusiophoretic deposition is significant for mass transfer. In general the gas enters from the bottom of the wet scrubber. Due to its very nature it moves upward. The liquid falls from the top. Obviously there will be contact at a specific time between these two phases. As a result the mass from the gas stream will be transferred to the liquid phase. Depending on contact time the rate of mass transfer will be determined. As the gas moves upward the more it gets free from load.The liquid comes out from the system and disposed of after treatment.

Venturi Scrubbers are high performance system which can reduce the contamination level of flue gas up to 99%. They can remove both particulate matter and gaseous pollutant. The flue gas is scrubbed at high speed and pressure at the Venturi and gas velocity is dropped at the Separator. The separator can be converted to spray tower in case the concentration of pollutant is very high. The material of construction of Ventruri is depended on the composition and temperature of the flue gases entering the system. When the flue gases are rich in SOx and NOx then the scrubbing process generates acid and consequently high-grade stainless steel such as SS-316 has to be used. Our range of packed bed type scrubbers are used for removal of gas, vapors, chemical mist etc. It is a cylindrical tower packed with plastic tower packing or any-other suitable packing materials for particular application and provided with a water spraying arrangement. Fumes/ Gaseous contaminantes travel vertically upwards while caustic liquid / water is spyared from the top, over the tower packing. The liquid is recirculated with pump.

Packed
Columns Scrubber shell is made up of usually with PVC, polypropylene or FRP and
most economical constructed as a cylinder. At the bottom is a grid that
supports the packing. It demands large open area to allow passage of the air
and gas in opposite directions, without creating more pressure drop. The
packing consists of plastic shapes, typically 2" to 4" in size.
Packing comes in various designs such as: rings, which are short hollow
cylinders; saddle shaped packing; donuts of small dia. Rod wound in a spiral;
and intersecting plates, usually with a spherical external profile.
The two main types of entrainment
eliminator are: chevron,
consisting of parallel S-shaped blades; and mesh, which is a bed of knitted polypropylene fibers. They are both
equally efficient, but the chevron is preferred, because it lasts longer, has
large openings, a lower pressure drop, and less tendency to block with dust,
crystals or deteriorated fibers.
