In small Air capacities upto 500 NM3/hr we offer Model-SP. It's simple and very compact design consisting of a cylindrical heat exchanger with freon tubes. Air flows outside the tubes and gets cooled to 3°C temperature. Moisture condenses out and is drained continuously. The out going air is at 3°C temperature with (+) 3°C Pressure Dew Point which is equivalent to approx (-) 23°C dew point at atmospheric pressure.

Theory Of Operations:
Heat reactivated dryer are used when one needs air of very low dew point. In this design desiccant is regenerated at higher temperature with little dry air purge. Due to dry air purge and thermal regeneration, residual moisture loading on desiccant becomes low and this gives low dew points.
The drying unit has 2- vessels filled with activated alumina desiccant. One vessel remains in drying cycle for 4-hours while other vessel is simultaneously regenerated at atmospheric pressure. Around 3 to 5% flow of air dryer capacity is used as purge for regeneration. Electrical heaters are provided in a central finned stainless pipe in drying vessels. Heating cycle is for 2-hours and in this time desiccant temperature increase up to 100 to 150 degree celsius. at this temperature regeneration is complete. Dew point achieved is around and above (-) 60 degree celsius.

Atomized liquid and hot air from the air disperser come in intimate contact in the drying chamber. With the intense direct contact, heat and mass transfer occurs between the two phases. Due to the large surface area created by the fine atomization, drying is very rapid and occurs in a matter of seconds. Drying can be co-current/counter current depending on the particular application. The chamber can be a flat roof design (with rotary/nozzle atomizer), top cone design (nozzle atomizer), tall form design with a bustle construction (for coarser powder), two stage design (with subsequent drying in a fluid bed dryer), with an integrated fluid bed (placed in the bottom cone of the chamber).

Compressed air is also used for process purposes like intermingling with products, sulphonation, drying of polyester chips and other products. Air has moisture at all stages. Air also has dust, oil, grease etc. These vary from country to country. However in India following limits are generally specified. Moisture : Dew point required: -40 Deg. C to -80 Deg. C at atmospheric pressure . Dust : Between 1 microns to 5 microns Oil, grease : Less than 1 ppm. Filtering or coalescing does removal of dust.
