It is in natural grey, binary or BCD format available upto 9 bits (512 steps per turn). Unlike incremental encoders, each step is exclusive; the digitally defined shaft position, which is not affected by power outage. Ranges above & Multiturn absolute encoders. These are available upto 19 bits are complemented by German make single 7 bits in singleturn and maximum 17 x 12 bit multiturn encoders in various versions.
